Garuda Yoga is one of the yogas mentioned in B.V. Raman's 300 Important Combination. Garud(eagle) is vehicle of Shree Hari Vishnu. Garud Puran is one of the eighteen puranas which are part of ancient vedic texts.
Garuda Yoga is a complicated yoga. There are three conditions required for this yoga to occur.
- The lord of Navamsha sign where Moon is placed should be exalted. For example if Moon is in Aries Navamsha than its lord Mars should be in Capricorn in Main Chart.
- Native must be born in morning or to be more precise between sunrise and sunset.
- Birth must be at time when Moon is in waxing phase. In simple terms between first day(Prathama) after No Moon(Amavasya) and Full Moon(Purnima).
Garuda Yoga gives polished speech and respect among peers. Native is feared by enemies and quite strong. On the downside there is danger from poisons especially around 34 years of age.
Name of this yoga is kinda ironic cause Shree Vishnu is one of the Adityas(twelve Sun's in Vedic Astrology) and considering Garuda is vehicle of Vishnu it should consider birth-time Sun as a factor instead of Moon. Also eagle(garud) hunts in day when Sun is active and remains inactive when Moon is shining.
