Shiva Yoga is one of the yogas mentioned in B.V. Raman's book 300 Important Combination. It grants fortune, knowledge and fame to the native born with this yoga. Shiva popularly known as Mahadev is part of tridev(holy trinity) in Hinduism with Brahma the creator, Vishnu the preserver and Shiva the destroyer.

Shiva is known as trilochan(three eyed), trigunakaram(one who embodies the three gunas satva, rajas and tamas), triyayudham(one who carries three weapons) and Shiva gets pleased when devotees offer him Bilva which is again tridalam(consists of three leaves). Naturally yoga associated with him will involve three planets and three houses.

Shiva Yoga is quite a simple yoga. All it requires are three houses and their lords interchanging houses. For Shiva Yoga to happen

• Lord of fifth house must be placed in ninth house.
• Lord of ninth house must be placed in tenth house.
• Lord of tenth house must be placed in fifth house.

• North Style
• South Style

 

According to B. V. Raman a person with Shiva Yoga can become a successful trader, a conqueror or one who commands armies. He/She will possess divine wisdom and lead a virtuous life.

In modern context it can be said that a person with Shiva Yoga generally owns a MNC or big business which deals with import-export of goods as well as foreign clients. Alternatively person with Shiva Yoga is a politician, leader or celebrity who commands loyal followers. Or person can be learned, industrious, popular and involved in philanthropy.

Fifth house deals with fame, progeny and knowledge. Fifth lord placed in ninth house can grant success in higher learning, fortune favoring on foreign soil and children increasing fame of native and his/her lineage.

Ninth house deals with fortune, higher learning and long-distance travels. Ninth lord placed in tenth house means person maybe involved in career which involves spirituality or academics. It can also suggest a fortunate career which involves little or no struggles.

Tenth house deals with career and career prestige. Tenth lord in fifth house generally suggests a person achieves success and recognition via the work he/she does. It also can suggests a career in politics or entertainment sector.

This yoga cannot occur in Taurus Ascendant as lord of ninth house and tenth house are same(Saturn). Similarly it cannot happen in Capricorn or Cancer Ascendants either as Venus or Mars control both fifth house and tenth house.

Tenth lord in fifth house can show its share of challenges, transformation, dishonor and scandals as tenth lord and tenth house will be six or eight houses away from each other. This holds especially true if tenth lord is placed in an enemy sign in fifth house.
